Our adventure on August 1st took us on a scenic train journey from Engelberg to Meiringen, with a transfer in Luzern. Upon reaching Meiringen, we proceeded to Aareschlucht West, the starting point for our exploration of the impressive Aare Gorge.

We enjoyed a pleasant meal at the ticket station before embarking on our walk through the gorge. It’s worth noting that the path from west to east is uphill, which is something to keep in mind for future visits. The Aare Gorge offered stunning views of the sculpted rock formations and the rushing river.

Once we reached Aareschlucht Ost, we began our return journey, retracing our steps back to Meiringen and then to Luzern. In Luzern, we paused for another meal and coffee at Starbucks, a familiar comfort amidst our Swiss travels, before finally heading back to Engelberg.
