On July 29, we arrived in the enchanting alpine village of Engelberg, Switzerland, a renowned mountain resort cradled in the heart of the Central Alps at the foot of the majestic Mount Titlis, whose glacier-capped summit soars to 3,239 meters. This picturesque destination, famous for its historic Benedictine monastery and as the largest winter and summer holiday spot in central Switzerland, immediately captivated us with its blend of serene village charm and thrilling outdoor possibilities. As mentioned earlier, for our stay, we chose a charming AirBnB apartment in a quiet residential area near the Titlis Resort complex, embodying the region’s authentic rustic elegance with its warm wooden interiors, fully equipped kitchen for home-cooked meals, cozy living spaces complete with plush seating, and private bathrooms stocked with essentials. After checking in and unpacking our gear, we drove to the nearby Coop Supermarkt at Titliszentrum 5, a convenient local staple known for its fresh produce, regional specialities like marinated meats, artisanal cheeses, and a wide array of groceries and non-food items at reasonable prices. We loaded up on essentials, spending the rest of the day relaxing in our haven and mapping out our itinerary amid the crisp mountain air and getting ready for the adventures ahead.
